Women’s Clinic
Imagine Being A Women On The Streets…
The literature of the past 150 years abounds with countless data and narratives that point towards the dire health consequences of poverty and socioeconomic deprivation. While women typically enjoy a longer life span then men, this competitive advantage virtually disappears in the homeless population. Exposed and vulnerable, women on the streets are particularly susceptible to the threat of physical and sexual abuse. DWW recognizes the stark health effects of such conditions and that is why Women’s Free Homeless Clinic is one of our most treasured programs.
A Place For Women To Feel Safe And Be Girls Again…
The Women’s Free Homeless Clinic is a bi-monthly free women’s health clinic sponsored by Transition House. Women are offered free services including medical care, gynecological services, podiatry, health education, counseling, lunch, showers, laundry, & companionship. Periodically, designated clinics will also have special themes such as “Diva Day” or “Game Day.”
The clinic takes place during the second and fourth Friday of every month from 10am to 2pm at Transition House. Free roundtrip transportation is provided from various locations including Alameda Park, and State Street.
Our Vision For The Future:
